Digital Dock is Hounslow Council’s first-ever affordable co-working space supporting small businesses, freelancers, and home workers.
Digital Dock Brentford a bright, stylish, flexible, and affordable workspace in the heart of Brentford is a far cry from its former drab two-floor shop front.
Workspaces are facing rising rent from landlords, high business rates, and the increasing loss of office space to residential use, with limited affordable co-working space. With the impact of COVID-19 on all businesses, the creation of a co-working space was vital to help plug that gap and respond to the demand for people working more locally in affordable “home from home” flexible spaces.
By providing a cost-effective workspace, businesses can pay lower commercial rents and reduce the risks of starting or expanding a business, as well as receiving the additional benefits of working alongside and collaborating with peers.
London Borough of Hounslow successfully brought that to fruition with Digital Dock.
Digital Dock is a flexible working space for local businesses and residents where individuals or companies can use the facilities and book out their space by the hour, day, week, or longer. It also provides offices and meeting rooms and well as the usual hot desks and permanent workstations.
It’s a great place to network and grow with fellow freelancers and small businesses, it has creative spaces with break-out zones and comfy couches so you can brainstorm ideas. It has after-hours socials as well as expert training on hand to sharpen your skills and more importantly the flexibility to grow with you as a business so you can watch your budget and plan.
Digital Dock is a hub for Brentford’s creative industries with its super-fast fibre connectivity and a digital studio available to hire for professional content creation including photography, video production, and streaming.
Digital Dock is a collaborative space for entrepreneurs, start-ups, micros, or businesses at affordable prices. Its intention is to bring people together to build a thriving business community.
Helen Robert’s from CPG Exec Ltd and MyGrowthPod who provide business support programmes to Hounslow Council collaborated and consulted on this project said:
“Small businesses have an important role to play in the country’s economic growth, this kind of space provides a launch pad so they can thrive and grow quicker than they would alone. This type of space has been invaluable as a community to support tiny businesses to grow, expand and develop their offering. At CPG we are delighted the Council ran with this idea to not only help small businesses and entrepreneurs recover from the effects of the pandemic but to facilitate their growth by providing a fit-for-purpose space to do so. Not many Councils would do that!”
